Chile Overview



This part of the website gives a brief illustrated overview of Chile. Here you can find information on the country, its people and the institutions.

The first section Geography gives information in regards to the location and characteristics of Chile. Here you can find information on the different regions and environments that make Chile such a diverse country. The Geography section also allows you to connect to the Regions section of the website. Here you can discover both the principal geographic and economic characteristics of each of Chile’s thirteen regions via an interactive map.

The second section is People. This section gives an explanation of the people that make up Chile. It describes the history of the people giving special note to the original people of the land.

The third section Culture explains the modern Chilean culture. It shows how the modern Chilean culture has changed from the traditional culture; and how this culture is a mixture of the indigenous, Spanish and the more recent contributions of other immigrant groups. It also provides links to other websites which focus on aspects of Chilean culture

The fourth section History gives a brief overview of Chilean history from the Spanish Conquest up until today

The fifth section Government gives a brief overview of the institutions that form the Chilean Government and a short concise report on the president. It also gives an in depth analysis on the Government’s social policy and describes the process of political reform that has taken place since 1973.

The sixth section Economy provides summary of the current state of the Chilean economy and also provides links to other sites with more in-depth and specified information.

And the final section Foreign Policy explains the basis of Chile’s foreign policy and outlines what this involves
