Diplomatic Visas

All request must exclusively be made to the Embassy of Chile and will be responded by the Head of Mission. Our Diplomatic Mission is located in the city of Canberra at 10 Culgoa Circuit, O`Malley, ACT 2606. Consular offices do not handle these visas.
The applicant should be represented by his/her governmental institution and must be supported by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (for Australian Diplomatic/Official passports) or the corresponding Diplomatic Mission (for Diplomatic/Official passports of third countries).
Applicants from countries without an Embassy in Canberra or a Consulate in Australian territory should be supported by the corresponding Ministry of Foreign Affairs in his/her home country, and take good care to apply at least a month before the applicant will travel.
Documents required:
A third person note from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (or the corresponding Diplomatic Mission), indicating the name of the passport holder, passport number, estimated date of arrival to Chile, main reason of travel and number of days to be spend in the country. The passport must be valid for at least the following six months. There is no application form. It is free of charge and will be processed in five working days or less.
The institution applying for the Diplomatic/Official visa will be responsible in delivering and picking up the passport from the Embassy, by courier or by hand. If such entity is from overseas/interstate they must provide a pre-paid envelope with the correct delivery address and person in charge.
Travelers staying in Transit, inside the International Airport of Santiago, for less than six (6) or eight hours (8), do not require any visa.
